Silica Awareness Course
This online Silica Awareness training course has been developed for workers to gain the required general knowledge and understanding to work safely with materials containing Respirable Crystalline Silica (silica).
The purpose of Silica Awareness training is to ensure workers understand where crystalline silica might be found in their place of work and what steps they can take to keep their workplace safe.
Overview
Throughout the delivery of this course, you will be made aware of the workplace health and safety risks and hazards associated when working with or in close proximity to crystalline silica containing products.
The course will address:
- what silica is,
- the basic health hazards associated with exposure to silica and respirable crystalline silica dust,
- common products containing silica, including engineered stone,
- common tasks that could result in exposure and typical control measures that may be implemented to protect workers from exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust including engineering controls, work practices and personal protective equipment.
To successfully complete this short training module successfully you must ensure you complete the entire content in the sequence that it is presented. At the end of the course you will receive via email a certificate of completion.
